Georgia Southern University’s Athletic Department has earned great success as its programs continue to soar higher and higher. The competitive realm within collegiate sports, as a whole, experienced a massive evolution with the introduction of NIL standards and protocols, and Georgia Southern was quick to respond with proactive and progressive steps to benefit the student-athlete experience. In the past year we’ve seen the release of Eagle Nation Collective and other various opportunities to support the Eagles. In keeping with the exciting changes, we partnered with GS Athletics to update their athletic brand guidelines and graphics.
From a visual perspective, we found inconsistencies in pattern, color, type, and presentation that felt dissonant with the athletic program’s cohesive spirit and disciplined approach to athletics and academics. After segmenting sports by season, we identified overlapping events and isolated templates for sport-specific announcements.
As we reviewed the competitive landscape across NCAA divisions and conferences, we designed a system that rivals programs twice their size. We introduced texture, gradients, and layering that appears sharp, consistent, and professional.
We were drawn to Tungsten’s depth and versatility, recognizing it as the “full roster with a deep bench” font we needed. However, with limited space on social tiles and posters, we prioritized copy placement to ensure fans could process the information and, ultimately, engage with the GS Athletics experience.
